Sandtray Therapy offers powerful & expressive work!
Training workshop is open to master's-level clinicians
Saturday, February 9, 2018 : 9am-3pm, 4 CEU’s offered
Our exploration of this sensory-rich, expressive modality will follow links with interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, grief and trauma healing--converging in practice methods designed for kids, age 3+
We'll cover sandtray methods informed by symbolic imagery, dreamwork, child-centered play, narrative approaches, and family systems.
Sandtray therapy is seeing a surge among clinicians internationally. I've been deeply inspired and my clinical toolbox expanded with the focused training I began in 2012 with mentors in neuropsychology and attachment. Since then, I've done dozens of my own sandtrays with my therapist, my sandtray teacher, and in compassionate groups of fellow therapists.
Registration includes high-quality materials for exploring & skill-building + case consultation
Effective with children, teens, and adults, this work invites deep communication in pairs, families, and groups. This workshop is an opportunity to listen, learn, collaborate, and try out new skills with our hands in the sand.
Come explore this miniature--yet expansive--world, alongside colleagues as curious as you are! We will review basic theoretical perspectives, share tips on setting up or enhancing your collection, and experiment with building and witnessing one another's trays.
Workshop Learning objectives
1. Explore sandtray as a non-verbal, expressive, experiential modality for diverse clients
2. Identify therapeutic goals that may benefit from the addition of sandtray with children, teens & family clients
3. Develop awareness of common themes, symbols, and modes of play in sandtray therapy
4. Expand skills in utilizing sandtray as a clinical assessment & engagement tool
I'm excited to hold the space for this experience!
Our therapist community will be richer for this chance to play together.
